Drop No. 001: Exploration

A collection of exploratory pieces focusing on functionality, balance, and craftsmanship. Drop No. 001 features one-of-a-kind handmade pieces by Rachel Durland over 2020 - 2022. Through a variety of textures, glazes, and unique clay bodies, Exploration evokes feelings of oneness, peace, and a deep appreciation for the elements from which each piece came.

A set of three nesting bowls adorned in foliage like carvings and finished with a glossy light green glaze
a moon shaped jar with hand carved geometeric pattern.
A bulbous shaped jar with lid. The body of the jar is finished in a glossy light blue green glazed with copper colored rim and lid.

A mini collection of vases as part of Drop No. 001: Exploration. The Elements is a small series of eight vases that explore earthliness, shape, and oneness with nature. Each piece has its own unique shape, color, and characteristics, never to be reproduced.

Introducing The Elements…

Who is Rachel?

Rachel feels the journey of the “making” is just as important as the finished piece.

She often describes the making experience as spiritual, saying “I cannot center the clay until I have centered myself. What is more beautiful than that?”
