Meet Rachel

Rachel decided to return to the world of ceramics in 2019 after having taken a forty-year break.

When she returned to the craft, it became clear that she would be exploring works in clay for the rest of her life.

These days you can find Rachel spending her days either in her home studio creating new work or at Warwick Pottery, where she both attends and teaches classes. The vibrant studio atmosphere invites her to gain inspiration from her fellow potters and friends.

Rachel has always been attracted to functional art. Nothing gives her more pleasure than hearing about how her work is being used and enjoyed in peoples’ everyday lives. Her forms are varied and are not often repeated, as she continues to discover her own voice as a ceramic artist.

Rachel feels the journey of the “making” is just as important as the finished piece. She often describes the making experience as spiritual, saying “I cannot center the clay until I have centered myself. What is more beautiful than that?”
